The only thing hotter than the 84-degree temperature in Hawaii Thursday? The sight of shirtless stars James Marsden and Josh Hopkins.
The best friends took time off from the Maui Film Festival June 14 to enjoy a day of fun in the sun. Marsden, 38, and Hopkins, 41, revealed their buff beach bodies, while taking a dip in the Pacific Ocean. How does Marsden -- a single father-of-two -- stay fit in his late thirties?
"The gym mentality doesn't work for me," he tells Men's Health. "It's too isolating. I have to be outdoors chasing a ball. And I feel substantially better about myself when I do."

He adds: "You want to look good, but it's not necessary to look like the statue of David every time you take your shirt off. I'd rather look healthy, have a sound mind, and be comfortable in my own skin."
Marsden isn't afraid to indulge in a few guilty pleasures, either. "I like eating Hershey's chocolate and Jif peanut butter!" the Bachelorette actor told Us Weekly in 2011. "That's it!"
Cougar Town star Hopkins -- who stands tall at 6-foot-3 and weighs 200 pounds -- tells Men's Fitness he's "naturally more muscular than skinny," so he has "to do a lot of cardio to keep my heart rate up." Like Marsden, he prefers playing sports to stay active. "I like that endorphin rush. I think that just stayed with me."
